About the role
You will serve as a CAREER SERVICES SPECIALIST in the MARINE CORPS COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of MARINE CORPS BASE. You will serve as a member of the Transition Readiness Program (TRP) to assist military members as they transition to civilian life. You will research information on local and national career, education and/or recruitment processes and standards and produce supporting materials for clients. You will organize special events to include job and careers fairs, promote awareness of programs through targeted outreach efforts, and establish community partnerships in an effort to ensure widest utilization of programs. You will execute data collection, reporting processes and procedures and support program evaluation efforts. You will provide individualized instruction, advice, and guidance to assist clients with their completion of the Individual Development Plan (IDP) and Individual Transition Plan (ITP) in support of their post-separation goals. You will advise clients on the development of skills required by employers and provide information on the entrance requirements to colleges, universities, and vocational/technical institutions. You will assist clients in resume writing and interviewing techniques, facilitate workshops and trainings, and provide communication with clients to support their post-separation goals. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Administering workforce development education or training programs; conducting needs-related resource connection and referrals for transitioning clients (e.g. active duty service members, veterans, military family members and/or civilian employees, etc.); AND conducting evaluations to ensure adherence to program requirements.
