About the role
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS), Children and Adults Health Programs Group (CAHPG). As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist (Group Deputy Director), GS-0107-15, you will provide operational review and administration of CMS national health care programs and policies. Performs the full range of supervisory duties for a multi-disciplinary professional staff establishing Medicaid, CHIP, and Basic Health Programs. Lead the development and implementation of new and amended national policies governing public health coverage. Directs the technical review and formal approval of State Plans for Medicaid, CHIP, and Basic Health Programs. Manages the development and implementation of quality improvement strategies and health outcome measures for beneficiaries. Serves as a primary liaison to collaborate with high-level officials across federal, state, and external health organizations. In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Implementing federal and state healthcare policies to ensure effective program delivery of services to beneficiaries. 2) Managing work assignments and resources for staff to ensure effective implementation of CMS healthcare objectives. 3) Overseeing operations and project management functions to support program administration. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
