About the role

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the ASSISTANT PORT ENG BRANCH (N75A) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND. You will review shipboard maintenance management systems status and accomplishment rates with the Chief Engineer. You will evaluate ship generated voyage repair requests and regulatory body deficiencies, conducts ship checks to verify actual condition and provides input and analysis to the Principal Port Engineer (PPE). You will plan and schedule assigned work based on approved ship voyage repair requirements and operating schedules. You will exercise direct technical and administrative supervision over staff engineers and supporting technical and clerical personnel. You will provide a full range of supervision of personnel in the Assistant Port Engineer (APE) Branch. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing oversight and management of ship life-cycle maintenance and the material readiness program. Experience planning the work of junior engineers, determining work priorities, and preparing schedules based on the completion of work. Experience developing performance standards, identifying and arranging developmental training needs for junior engineers. Experience identifying and resolving engineering problems as it pertains to ship life-cycle management. Experience preparing technical requirements and costs estimates for contract modifications and change order work, and assisting the Contracting Officer in negotiations, disputes and claims.
