Staff Product Marketing Manager, Developer Experience
CockroachDBFull time · New York, NY · On site
Category-defining tech. Career-defining work. Lots of tech companies disrupt. But, many fail when they try to scale. We're different. CockroachDB makes it easier for companies to build and scale apps. This is how and why we're helping some of the most innovative companies on the planet. We tackle problems head-on and focus on solutions that create lasting impact. Because when our customers win, we all win. The Role We're looking for a Staff Product Marketing Manager to own the Onboard & Build stage of the customer lifecycle — the moment a developer (or their agent) first meets CockroachDB and decides whether to build on it. It's the front door of our entire go-to-market motion: if we don't win here, nothing downstream matters. You'll own four connected user journeys end-to-end — Activation to Collaboration, Data Onboarding & Enablement, Developer Experiences, and Programmability & Extensibility — as a single, coherent stage rather than four disconnected pieces. That's deliberate: the developer's path from “curious” to “building in production” should feel like one story, and you're the person who makes it one. This is a senior, high-ownership role. You'll set the positioning, build the messaging, and drive the enablement and content for how developers adopt CockroachDB — including the AI-native patterns increasingly defining this stage: agent-driven discovery, MCP and agent-facing surfaces, and the reality that coding agents themselves now evaluate and choose databases. You'll sit inside Product Marketing & DevRel within the R&D organization, close to engineering and on the roadmap early enough to shape the story, not just narrate it. Below are the journeys you will own: Activation to Collaboration. The front line of the agentic strategy — how developers and their coding agents discover, evaluate, and choose CockroachDB. If an agent doesn't pick us at activation, nothing downstream happens; you own making sure we're the obvious choice. Data Onboarding & Enablement. The migration and onboarding story — how teams move off legacy databases and get to production, including the AI Migration Assistant and the MOLT tooling that de-risks the path. Developer Experiences. The end-to-end developer experience — quickstarts, docs, sample apps, and the surfaces that turn first-touch curiosity into a running application. Programmability & Extensibility. How developers extend and build on CockroachDB — the interfaces, integrations, and capabilities (SQL Server design partnerships, Dynamic SQL, and more) that make it a platform, not just a database. You Will Positioning & messaging for the stage. Build the message house for Onboard & Build — the value propositions, proof points, and narrative that make developers choose and stay. Keep all four journeys laddering to one coherent story and to the broader company positioning. Launch & GTM execution. Own the PMM deliverables for launches touching your journeys — messaging, enablement, content, and field readiness — mapped to the GTM readiness plan and shipped on time. You move fast once positioning locks. Field & sales enablement. Arm the field to sell the onboarding and developer story — first-call decks, objection handling, competitive framing, and the pitch reps carry — partnering with the enablement team on delivery. The AI-native adoption story. Own how the agentic era shows up at this stage: agent-driven discovery, agents as a first-class audience, and the message that CockroachDB is where developers and their agents build. Turn it into proof, not just positioning. Cross-functional partnership. Work hand-in-glove with the PMs for each journey, with DevRel, docs, and demand gen — translating what's shipping into what the market hears, and bringing developer reality back into the roadmap. Proof and content. Drive the case studies, reference stories, and technical content that make the onboarding and build story credible — grounded in real customer outcomes, not claims. The Expectations In your first 30 days, you'll go deep on the product and the four journeys, meet the PMs and cross-functional partners you'll work with, and audit the existing positioning, messaging, and content across Onboard & Build for gaps and quick wins. By 60 days, you'll have a clear point of view on where the stage's story is strong and where it's thin, shipped your first messaging or enablement deliverable, and begun driving one of the four journeys end-to-end. By 90 days, you'll own the full Onboard & Build narrative — a coherent message house across all four journeys, active field enablement, and a working partnership with the journey PMs feeding the roadmap. You Have 8+ years in product marketing, with a track record of owning positioning, messaging, and launches for technical products — ideally databases, developer tools, data infrastructure, or cloud platforms (Staff level; senior candidates with exceptional depth considered). Genuine technical fluency. You can hold a real conversation with developers and PMs about distributed systems, databases, and how software gets built — and translate it into messaging that's both accurate and compelling. You don't fake the technical depth; you have it. Fluency in the AI-native developer world. You understand how developers build with LLMs and agents today — RAG, vector search, agent memory, MCP, agent-driven workflows — and can position data infrastructure credibly within it. A clear, opinionated point of view. You bring a strong PMM perspective and defend it with evidence. You'd rather challenge a weak positioning than execute it quietly, and you know how to disagree constructively. Sharp technical storytelling. You turn capability into meaning — “online schema changes” becomes “ship changes with zero downtime” — and you make the developer's life the center of the story. Bias for decision-ready output. You produce concise, high-quality work under real deadlines, flag decisions inline, and don't pad. You work fast when the direction is clear. Cross-functional gravity. You earn trust with PMs, engineers, sales, and DevRel, and you make the story better by pulling their reality into it. The Team Reporting to the Head of Product Marketing, you'll join a small, high-leverage PMM team inside the broader Product organization. Product Marketing at Cockroach Labs means you work with everyone — sales, sales enablement, solution engineering, product management, demand generation, and beyond. We like it that way: this team shapes the growth vector of the company every day. Cockroach Labs is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you need additional accommodations to feel comfortable during your interview process, please email us at accessibility@cockroachlabs.com. Cockroach Labs has a hybrid work model, with Roachers that are local to one of our offices coming in on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and working flexibly the rest of the week. While we’ve learned valuable lessons working remotely, nothing can replace the connection, creativity, and fun that occurs when Roachers get together and we are committed to fostering a workplace that encourages collaboration and allows us all to do our best work. Benefits Stock Options Medical Insurance Vision Insurance Dental Insurance Life and Disability Insurance Professional Development Funds Flexible Time Off Paid Holidays Paid Sick Days Paid Parental Leave Retirement Benefits Mental Wellbeing Benefits And more! Head of Sales Strategy, Global GTM
AnthropicFull time · San Francisco, CA | New York City, NY · On site
About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role Anthropic’s commercial business is scaling at a pace that outruns any fixed go-to-market plan. New products and capabilities launch on a frontier cadence, new GTM motions get incubated and reorganized in months rather than years, and for each thing we sell, the questions of who we sell it to, how the field and our partners execute, how we win against the alternatives, and whether it’s working have to be answered continuously and globally. We need a leader who owns those answers. You’ll lead the Sales Strategy team inside our Central GTM Strategy, Operations & Analytics organization, with a global scope across our full solution portfolio. That breaks into three things. You’ll design the sales strategy for our solution portfolio from defining the core sales motions, who we target with them - across personas, segments, industries, and geographies - how we execute, including how the field and channel are orchestrated and which sales assets and programs support them; how we respond to competitor moves, and how we measure progress, through the KPIs and OKRs the business is run against. You’ll be the connective tissue across Product, Marketing, Finance, Sales, Regional Sales Strategy, Customer Success, Enablement, and Operations, so that every GTM lever is tuned to drive execution success at scale rather than each function optimizing its own piece. Where a product, segment, or region is pacing behind its aspiration, you’ll co-own the plan to close the gap with the sales strategy partners for that part of the business, and stay with it until it does. And you’ll own the signal. Your team will synthesize what the field and our customers are telling us, alongside pipeline and performance data, into a clear view of what’s working, what isn’t, and the systemic issues we need to solve to grow faster. You’ll lead the cross-functional steering committees where GTM strategy gets decided, and you’ll be accountable for those forums producing decisions rather than updates. This is a player-coach role for an operator who can move fluently between a targeting model, a compete plan, and a strategy narrative for our most senior commercial leaders, is comfortable defining work that doesn’t yet have an owner, and wants to shape how a frontier AI company sells. Key responsibilities Solution sales strategy Define the core sales motions for our solutions portfolio, and decide which ones the global field prioritizes Define who we target with each motion: the personas, segments, industries, and geographies where we invest, and the reasoning behind those choices Design how each motion is executed, including how field and channel roles are orchestrated and which sales assets and programs the field needs, and partner with Marketing and Enablement to produce them Own how we compete: competitive positioning for the field, and the design and rollout of compete and takeout campaigns Define how we measure progress on each motion, including the KPIs and OKRs, and partner with Operations & Insights to instrument and report them Cross-functional GTM alignment Act as the connective tissue across Product, Marketing, Finance, Sales, Regional Sales Strategy, Customer Success, Enablement, and Operations so that each function’s plans support the same product and solution outcomes Bring the field’s perspective into product launch and roadmap decisions, and translate product decisions into changes to sales strategy Co-own recovery plans with sales strategy partners when a product, segment, or region is pacing behind its aspiration, and drive follow-through until it is back on track Signal, insight, and executive alignment Synthesize field and customer signal with pipeline and performance data into a regular point of view on what is and isn’t working and the systemic issues behind it Stand up quick-turn strategic analyses for GTM leadership on questions that need a defensible answer in days rather than quarters Lead cross-functional GTM strategy steering committees: set the agenda, frame the decisions, drive follow-through on what’s decided Serve as a thought partner to the Head of GTM Strategy, Operations & Analytics and to commercial leadership on sales strategy Team leadership Lead and develop the Sales Strategy team, including hiring, setting priorities across the pillars above, and setting the bar for the rigor of the team’s work Minimum qualifications Have owned sales or go-to-market strategy for a product or product line at a business-to-business technology company, in a sales strategy, product GTM, revenue strategy, or GTM strategy and operations role, or advised on it in a strategy consulting role Have designed the following and carried through to rollout in the field: a sales motion or set of sales plays with targeting and execution guidance, a competitive positioning or compete program, a targeting model across personas, segments, or industries Have defined the KPIs used to run a sales motion or product line and used them to change how the business operated Have managed people, including setting priorities for a team and developing the individuals on it Strong analytical fluency: you can build the analysis behind a targeting, investment, or performance question yourself in a spreadsheet, and set the standard for it on your team Diagnose problems from a mix of quantitative data and qualitative field signal, and separate systemic issues from noise Excellent written and verbal communication: you can put a recommendation in front of senior commercial leaders, take challenge on it, and drive the group to a decision Work effectively across functions where you don’t own the outcome, and secure real commitments from partner teams Work effectively with ambiguity, novelty, and pace, including being the first person to scope a problem the company hasn’t solved before Strong hands-on skills in using AI as a thought partner and work accelerator; comfortable building AI Skills and Agents to improve personal and team productivity. Are excited about Anthropic’s mission to develop AI that is safe and beneficial Preferred qualifications Extensive experience in sales strategy or product go-to-market, ideally in a commercial organization whose product line and go-to-market grew substantially during your tenure Strong acumen on AI, cloud infrastructure, or other usage-based and API-driven business models, and with how enterprises evaluate and adopt AI products Have taken a new product or capability from launch to an established sales motion in the field Have worked across multiple regions, or with several routes to market at once, such as direct field sales, self-serve or usage-based adoption, and channel or partner-led sales, and understand how strategy differs across them Have run compete or takeout programs against established incumbents Have supported or run an executive operating cadence, such as steering committees, planning cycles, or a weekly leadership forum Have owned or co-owned a recovery plan for a business that was behind its targets Background in management consulting or a comparable analytical role, paired with subsequent in-house operating experience Have used SQL or a business intelligence tool to work with pipeline and usage data directly The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $310,000—$360,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. As an equal opportunity employer, we encourage and welcome people of all backgrounds to apply. About Vanta We started in 2018, in the wake of several high-profile data breaches. Online security was only becoming more important, but we knew firsthand how hard it could be for fast-growing companies to invest the time and manpower it takes to build a solid security foundation. Vanta was inspired by a vision to restore trust in internet businesses by enabling companies to improve and prove their security. From our early days automating security monitoring for compliance standards like SOC 2, HIPAA and ISO 27001 to creating the world's leading Trust Management Platform, our vision remains unchanged. Now more than ever, making security continuous—not just a point-in-time check— is essential. Thousands of companies rely on Vanta to build, maintain and demonstrate their trust— all in a way that's real-time and transparent. AnthropicFull time · San Francisco, CA | New York City, NY | Seattle, WA · On site
About the role Design at Anthropic sits at the intersection of craft, research, and product intuition. We're a small team working on products that millions of people use daily—and on interactions that don't have established conventions yet. Our work shapes how people experience AI: whether Claude feels like a tool or a collaborator, whether it earns trust or erodes it. We partner closely with engineers and researchers, often designing around capabilities that are emerging in real-time. That means staying close to the models, prototyping rapidly, and being comfortable with ambiguity. We care deeply about craft—the details that make something feel polished and trustworthy—but we ship fast and learn in the open. We'd rather get something in front of users and iterate than wait for perfection. We're looking for designers who ship fast and stay in motion—people who would rather get something in front of users this week than perfect it for a month, and then spend then next months perfecting it. You're excited to question fundamental UI assumptions and invent patterns that feel native to AI, and you're already using tools like Claude Code to extend what you can build. You pay attention to where model capabilities are heading, not just what Claude can do today, and you find ways to keep caring about the pixels, the copy, and the edge cases while shipping quickly. Read more here for the type of features we build. Key responsibilities Collaborate with product managers, engineers, AI researchers and other stakeholders to define product vision, strategy and roadmaps, and play an active role in shipping. Understand the technical architecture of our products and define primitives for new capabilities. Define feature areas with exceptional attention to detail and polish, identifying opportunities to improve quality and consistency of broader flows Craft beautiful, polished, and delightful user interfaces that build trust and showcase the power of our AI technology Comfortable in code, design, prototypes, and learning new ways to communicate ideas and concepts Find creative ways to ship high-quality work in a fast-paced, often ambiguous, resource-constrained startup environment Minimum qualifications Experience designing and shipping complex workflows, enterprise/B2B SaaS, developer tools, or API products end-to-end Proven track record of executing end-to-end on large and complex products, or a series of products, in ambiguous environments A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking and polished UI craftsmanship Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, such as Figma Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code as a creative partner in your own design practice Preferred qualifications Experience prototyping with front-end code (e.g., HTML/CSS/JS) Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority Passion for crafting scaled, highly impactful, safe and beneficial artificial intelligence technologies to enable new possibilities Representative projects Specific projects and responsibilities depend on team staffing, which we'll discuss once we've seen more of your work and understood your strengths and interests. A few examples across teams: Core Apps: Pioneer new ways for Claude to be a true partner in people's day to day lives. Build industry-leading tools for coding, work, design and more, shaping the way people leverage AI at work in transformative ways. Growth: Design intuitive onboarding flows that help new users get started quickly, understand Claude's capabilities, and achieve their goals in the first session. Uncover barriers that prevent users from getting the most out of Claude and create experiences that empower them to make it a trusted part of their routine. Developer Platform: Support frontier capabilities and API features via tooling, workflows, and documentation. Define the future suite of utilities for developers to confidently build, monitor and control agentic systems. Enterprise & Verticals: Shape how teams work with and bring Claude to their entire workforce. You'll turn the messy reality of knowledge work (research, analysis, writing, decisions across a dozen tools) into experiences where Claude is a true collaborator, backed by the admin and governance controls that let an org to use AI to the fullest. The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $305,000—$385,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time.
